More Than Shy

By, Wallbreakers

A girl who admits to being quiet is bothered when her classmates see her as only shy and smart. She goes on to speak for other students who are treated in the same way stating that you shouldn’t assume that people who don’t talk often are nothing more than shy.

This sounds exactly like my experience

I was almost completely isolated for years

I became shy and had very, very low self-esteem

I was afraid of raising my hand and speaking out because I thought I would be targeted

I wondered what I did wrong-why I was so hated and ignored

Why they only saw “loser” and “geek” and nothing more

Eventually I realized those people would not change-and why should I concern myself with their negative stereotypes?

I’m glad you overcame their labeling

And I completely agree that people who label miss out on amazing, fun, and creative friends!

    :)
